The article examines the diversity of political science approaches to the scientific definition of traditional values. This heterogeneity creates difficulties in using this category in the formation of a value-oriented public policy. The purpose of the article is to conceptually clarify and theoretically substantiate the concept of "traditional values" and propose an author's definition of this concept. The research is based on an interdisciplinary approach that includes hermeneutical anthropology, axiological and cultural approaches, as well as the use of methods such as analytical, descriptive and conceptual analysis. The author analyzes the existing diverse definitions of the concept of "traditional values" and the process of institutionalization of this concept within the framework of the current regulatory framework. The article proposes to consider traditional values as a system of well-established behavioral patterns that are primarily derived from human vital values. In the context of the lack of a generally accepted approach to the definition of "traditional values", the article contributes to the formation of a more detailed theoretical framework. This study provides various approaches to the concept in scientific and socio-political discussions. The practical significance of the research is that the materials of the article can be used in the course of evaluating statements by political actors and studying government strategies in the context of promoting the concept of the "Russian World". In addition, the results of the study are relevant for the preparation of analytical support for initiatives where the value component plays a key role. The author came to the conclusion that the solution of the issue of unity in the approach to traditional values is a key moment in the development of the concept of the "Russian World" and in the formulation of state policy. The work highlights the importance and prospects of using the definition of "traditional values" within the framework of the concept of the "Russian World" as a value-ideological foundation and an instrument of ideological construction in international politics.
