The article examines the essence and goals of the Eurasian Economic Union, which has become a logical continuation of the institutional and economic convergence of post-Soviet states in order to ensure national economic security in the context of sanctions policy. Based on the analysis of the dynamics of trade turnover between Russia and the EAEU member countries, the article substantiates the reorientation of Russia’s foreign economic strategy towards the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. The study presents the key trade and economic areas of Russia’s foreign economic cooperation with the EAEU member states, as well as promising areas of cooperation with countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Latin America, which contribute to the sustainable development of Russia’s economy and ensure the country’s economic security in the face of increasing external economic pressure.
