This article examines the development of the cognitive component in physical education lessons for primary school students. It analyzes the scientific, methodological, and legal literature regulating the current educational process in the subject of “Physical Education.” It identifies contradictions between the regulatory and legal requirement to update the content of the subject “Physical Education” in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard and the Federal Educational Standard and the practical need to develop teaching materials that provide a systematic approach to developing the cognitive component in primary school students. The methodological basis of the study was the use of pedagogical experiments, questionnaires, observations, and tests to assess the development of cognitive abilities in primary school students through the implementation of a practice-oriented technology. This article describes the technology, which consists of four interrelated components: target, content, process, and evaluation. Examples of methods for implementing technology for developing the cognitive component of physical education in elementary school students are provided.
