    <p>This paper presents a review of problems and opportunities of wood-straw composites. Stocks of straw; properties of straw; factors which hinder to use of straw as raw material for wood composites; advantages of straw as raw material for wood composites are discussed.</p>

  <p>Потребление древесных композитов (в частности, древесных плит) в мире ежегодно увеличивается примерно на 4 %. Наряду с высокой технической и экономической эффективностью применения древесных плит в различных отраслях промышленности, быстрому развитию их производства способствует значительная сырьевая база. Во многих странах мира для их изготовления традиционным сырьем была и остается древесина. Однако, для изготовления древесных плит также может быть пригодно и растительное сырье. В основном это лигноцеллюлозное сырье сельскохозяйственного производства (растительные волокна или агроволокна): волокна льна, конопли, джута, кенафа и других культур, стебли хлопчатника, солома, лоза, костра льна и конопли, багасса (жом сахарного тростника), отходы семян хлопка, рисовая и подсолнечная лузга и т.п. Возможно применение тростника и других дикорастущих растений, которые не используются или мало используются в промышленности.</p>
