Статья посвящена рассмотрению происхождению названий овощей в английском и немецком языках. Цель исследования состояла в том, чтобы выявить пути происхождении данной лексики в этих родственных языках, установить пути происхождение лексики данной тематической группы. Сравнительный анализ слов из разных языков, пусть и родственных языков подчеркивает сложность лингвистической эволюции и выявляет сходства и культурные различия в происхождении слов. Полученные нами результаты исследования данной группы лексики позволяют говорить о том, что почти половина лексических единиц исследуемой нами группы обнаруживает сходное происхождение, тогда как другая часть обнаруживает неодинаковые пути их происхождения в немецком и английском языках.

The article deals with the etymology of vegetable names in English and German in order to identify cognates between these languages. The study focuses on analyzing the origin of words, especially on the example of gastronomic vocabulary. The comparative analysis of words from different languages emphasizes the complexity of linguistic evolution and reveals cultural differences in word origins. The results of the study provide a better understanding of the influence of cultural factors in shaping the linguistic landscape, highlighting a mosaic picture of cultural differences in word origins and evolution.
