The article is devoted to the study of the role of the opening using the example of the Italian game in the process of teaching chess to beginner players. The key principles and strategic motives underlying the Italian Game and their influence on the formation of chess thinking are examined. The Italian Game is an excellent tool for mastering the fundamental principles of chess: development of pieces, control of the center and coordination of forces. Therefore, studying this opening helps develop strategic vision and tactical thinking in beginning chess players. However, it should be balanced and aimed at developing an understanding of the basic principles, rather than simply memorizing variations. Linking opening preparation with further development of chess thinking will allow young chess players to successfully progress and achieve high results.
