In the article an attempt to consider the concept «terrorism» from the point of view of potential threat of national security is made. Terrorism, having very complex contents, breaks the ability of the nation to self-preservation, self-reproduction and self-development, thus affecting national security of the country at all its levels: interstate, state, international, national, class and group. The concept of safety and degree of security of the state from internal and external threats in all spheres of its activity are examined, and also a number of main features which national security has are considered in detail.
