The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (National Research University) (MIPT) in relation to universities with a comparable number of scientific and pedagogical staff. Based on the official indicators of university performance monitoring from the period 2020–2024 and the data from the Financial Management Quality Rating (FMQR), the following blocks were compared: scale (contingent, number of researchers), financial stability (total income and its structure), scientific performance (volume of R&D), and normalized indicators per researcher and per student. It has been shown that, with a comparable number of researchers, MIPT leads in terms of total income, R&D volume, income per researcher, and R&D per researcher. St. Petersburg State University ranks second in terms of income per researcher and is the leader in terms of the share of extrabudgetary funding.
