Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
Introduction. The problem of identifying keywords in literary texts remains central to linguistics. Formal methods fail to account for the multilayered nature of discourse, which makes it relevant to combine psycholinguistic and linguistic approaches—considering both authorial intent and reader perception—with modern computational technologies. Aim. The aim of the article is to trace the evolution of the concept of “keywords in literary texts” within psycholinguistics and linguistics, to define their features and functions in literary texts studied by these disciplines, and to demonstrate the prospects of integrating traditional theoretical approaches with modern computational methods of analysis. Methodology and research methods. The study is based on chronological and comparative-analytical approaches. It examines works of Russian and foreign scholars—from A. A. Ukhtomsky’s theory of dominance and its semantic interpretation by J. Mukarovsky to contemporary psycholinguistic concepts and text-centered models. Special attention is given to criteria for identifying keywords in texts as well as to extralinguistic factors influencing their actualization. Results. Keywords function as semantic dominants, cognitive anchors, and structural elements of the text. The psycholinguistic approach emphasizes the reader’s role, while the linguistic approach highlights the uniqueness of authorial semantics. A synthesis of these perspectives with computational methods is required to objectively measure the significance of keywords and model their dynamics. Scientific novelty. The article systematizes major concepts and reveals the integrative nature of keywords as a phenomenon combining cognitive, linguistic, and cultural-communicative dimensions. Practical significance. The findings can be applied in authorial lexicography, corpus linguistics, automatic summarization, and literary analysis, expanding the possibilities of digital humanities research.
