This article presents a comparative analysis of the linguistic mechanisms representing the antagonistic dyad of the emotive concepts “Love” and “Hate” in the poetic discourse of A.A. Akhmatova and M.I. Tsvetaeva. The relevance of the study is determined by the need for an in-depth investigation of individual author’s conceptual spheres as special forms of communication, in which universal emotional categories are refracted through the prism of idiostyle and implement specific pragmatic intentions. Based on 235 poetic texts (125 poems by A. A. Akhmatova and 110 poems by M.I. Tsvetaeva) selected from the Russian National Corpus, the dominant lexico-semantic, metaphorical and syntactic models of objectifying the concepts under study are identified. The total number of analyzed contexts with the representative lexemes love, to love, beloved, hate, to hate amounted to 450 units (210 in A. A. Akhmatova, 240 in M.I. Tsvetaeva). It is established that in A.A. Akhmatova’s lyrics, the concepts «Love» and «Hate» are represented primarily through objective-sensory images and psychological parallelism, implementing the strategy of “reification” of emotion and its intimate, trust-based communication with the reader. In M.I. Tsvetaeva’s poetry, these concepts are verbalized through affective oxymoronic fusions, rhetorical exclamations and author’s neologisms, which forms an expressive-confessional communicative model: For the first time, the paper systematically compares the mechanisms of linguistic representation of the emotive concepts under study in the works of the two poets through the prism of their communicative strategies. The results obtained contribute to the development of linguoconceptology, theory of poetic discourse and communicative stylistics, and can also be used in the practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language.
