STYLISTIC FEATURES OF TEENAGE SPEECH IN THE NOVEL “THE FAULT IN OUR STARS” BY JOHN GREEN

Abstract (English):
The article focuses on the stylistic peculiarities of teenage speech in the novel “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green. The characters’ dialogues and monologues are analyzed in connection with the central themes of the book. The author highlights the fact that stylistic devices and expressive means used by the personages come from different stylistic layers. The protagonists’ speech abounds with linguistic elements typical of colloquial, oratorical and belles-lettres style. The juxtaposition of contrasting tropes and expressive means in the characters’ verbal communication accounts for worldwide popularity of the novel.

Подростковая речь как неотъемлемая составляющая коммуникации не раз оказывалась в поле зрения исследователей художественного текста. Предметом данного исследования стал стилистический аспект подростковой речи в романе Дж. Грина «Виноваты звезды» (The Fault in our Stars). Литературное творчество современного американского писателя и популярного видеоблоггера Джона Грина (John Green) хорошо знакомо читающей публике во всем мире.
