Monograph by V.I. Karasik’s “Linguistic Ladder of Knowledge” is characterized by a high degree of scientific character and a sharp modern reading of the texts. It sheds light on many questions and makes readers take a closer look at the life that is now outside the window and which we sometimes do not notice, although we plunge into its alternatives and paradoxes. The author designated the book as a ladder of knowledge, and this is very natural, although there is little metaphor in this designation, but there are many relevant meanings oriented towards the modern world. The article analyzes such issues as professional and gaming bilingualism, imitation, irony, aphorisms, and at the beginning of the book the emblematic, allegorical and symbolic characteristics of the concepts are described, after which these concepts are examined in plot movement using the example of specific texts from Shakespeare, Zorin, Schwartz, Gorin and Priestley. The ladder of knowledge is associated with a hermeneutic approach, which is found, for example, in the fact that the modern reading of Shakespeare's tragedy Coriolanus means abdicating responsibility for the political reorganization of society. Such a reading of texts is an access to the modern state of linguistics: doubt in reality, a liquid world, multi-vector dimensions.
