ROADS AS A COMPONENT HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL LANDSCAPE
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The road transport complex, as a component of the cultural landscape, is an environment modified by man, which he adapts to his needs during the life of many generations. The aim of the work was to clarify the significance of roads from the standpoint of morphocultural landscape genesis and to determine approaches to the classification and study of roads in the geocultural space. The process of formation, dynamics and development of road transport complexes occurs as a result of the interaction of nature and society in specific landscape conditions. The classification of cultural landscapes proposed by D.E. Cosgrove is used as a basis for dividing the road network into certain geocultural categories. If we consider that the emergence of communication routes is a result of the interaction of society and nature in specific landscape conditions, then public relations should be considered as the basis for differentiating the qualitative diversity of roads. Road transport complexes are considered as one of the factors in the historical and cultural development of the territory, which forms and reproduces the usual living conditions of people, determining the preservation of the "gene pool" of culture in various territorial forms. When studying road complexes in cultural landscapes, methods are identified that are aimed at determining the visual attractiveness of landscapes, within the framework of integrated assessments of their recreational potential when designing a road and transport network.
