USING ROLE-PLAYING TECHNIQUES WITH GENERATIVE AI CHATBOTS FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING AND PRACTICE

Abstract (English):
In recent years, the rise of neural networks and generative artificial intelligence has significantly impacted many professions. Language teachers and programmers, both in Russia and internationally, are exploring how this technology can be applied to foreign language learning. This study aims to showcase the potential of these tools, highlighting their capabilities and possible challenges from the perspectives of both teachers integrating them into their teaching methods and students using them for self-study. The AI models «GPT-3», «GPT-4», «Mistral», and «Character.ai» have been chosen for this research.
