The article considers features of formation and development of non-governmental educational organization from position of the classical life cycle organizational theory. The main stages of private school development are: development and planning; authorization and licensing; preparation for opening; enrollment and operation activity; stabilization and preservation of results; expansion and scaling, or decline and liquidation. It was noted that the first three stages of the organizational establishment were fundamental, without which no further work could be carried out. The functions and role of the School Council and guidance in terms of strategic planning have been examined. In conclusion, it is emphasized that only the need for effective management actions will allow the organization to avoid the stage of decline and move to the next level of development.
