The article is devoted to the problem of formation of research competencies of students of a pedagogical university by means of the course “Methods of students’ research activities”. The issues of organizing research activities in mathematics at school are considered. Attention is paid to the methodology of solving research problems in mathematics. The article is addressed to teachers and students of pedagogical universities, methodologists, and mathematics teachers.
