This article examines the development of metallurgical and shipbuilding technology, key achievements and features of technological progress in Russia in the XVII - XVIII century, as well as their relationship. The role of metallurgy in the production of metal structures, weapons and ship parts is described, as well as the impact of technological innovations on the expansion of the capabilities of the Russian fleet. In the 17th century, Russia experienced a period of centralization of state power and strengthening of the position of the autocracy. This contributed to the formation of a single economic space and the development of trade relations between different regions of the country. As a result, there was an increased demand for new technical solutions and inventions that could improve the efficiency of production and trade. In addition, in the XVII th century, the first scientific and engineering schools began to form in Russia, which became the basis for the development of the country's technical potential. They contributed to the dissemination of scientific knowledge and technical achievements, as well as the training of qualified specialists in the field of technology and engineering.
