The relevance of this article lies in the consideration of the issue of organizing work with student youth in higher educational institutions of Russia and Kazakhstan in the spirit of the provisions of the state youth policy. A scientific differentiation of the specifics of educational and youth work at the university is given. Youth work is considered as a set of means and forms of socialization designed to integrate the younger generation into the system of public relations at different levels of social participation. The article provides data from a sociological survey of students on the state and prospects for the development of youth work at the university.
