The article considers the problem of implementing a personality-developing approach to labor education of primary school students in extracurricular activities. Based on current research, the author identifies the essential characteristics of this approach, on the basis of which he formulates the main directions of labor education in extracurricular activities and identifies the personal qualities of students that need to be formed in this process: independence, activity, creative thinking. The article shows the possibilities of the method of making postcards in extracurricular work classes for the development of these qualities in children. The dynamics before and after testing a series of extracurricular classes using this technique are shown, a conclusion is made about the need to include manual creative work in the process of personality developing education of primary school students.
