The article examines the theoretical approaches to education and training of Russian teachers of the second and first half of the 19th century. It provides an analysis of the historical and pedagogical ideas about the goals and objectives, laws, and principles of education of children and youth in Russian pedagogy in the context of the works of prominent teachers of the second half of the 19th century.
