This article discusses the various aspects of cross-border and interregional cooperation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus within the Union State. The author analyzes the legal and institutional framework for cooperation between the two countries, as well as the implementation of projects especially in the field of economic, social and humanitarian cooperation. On the basis of its own sociological research presented copyrights scenarios of further cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. The script of the «union vector» involves the removal of the majority of regulatory barriers and the formation of not only a single economic space, but also social and political. The script for «running in place» provides a high degree of declarative processes, inter-regional and cross-border cooperation. The latter scenario – «Indifference» is determined by a decrease in the interest of all parties to the cross-border cooperation and, in particular, of the population.
