Аннотация: в данной статье рассматриваются способы решения проблемы транспортной доступности лесных массивов. По мере роста спроса на древесину и истощение ее запасов в хозяйственно освоенных регионах, лесная отрасль вынуждена перемещаться на новые лесные территории. Основные лесные богатства сохранились на Севере Европейской части России, Урале, Сибири и Дальнего Востока.

В периоды острой потребности в древесине основной ее объем заготавливался в европейской части страны. Сегодня ресурсы леса в этих зонах, за исключением Севера, истощены.
