This paper describes T-shaped specialists, their qualities and reasons for them being in demand in the labour market. It details their principal capabilities compared to those of I-shaped employees and generalists. The paper also gives examples of questions that will help to identify T-shaped employees, contains arguments describing how to work with them in order to foster their development and provides some recommendations on how to develop T-shaped competencies. The work involved a study aimed at identifying the number of future T-shaped specialists among St. Petersburg university students with a questionnaire developed and a survey performed.
