The article examines the concept of spatial gnosis, presents the levels of its development in children, and also describes the brain organization of this function. The author presents the results of a study of spatial gnosis in children of senior preschool age with general speech underdevelopment. During the experimental study, the levels of development in children of orientation in the diagram of their own body, in the objective world, and on a sheet of paper were established. In addition, the features of understanding and construction of quasi-spatial structures by the children who took part in the study were subject to analysis. As a result of the diagnostics, data were obtained that indicate the presence of difficulties in older preschoolers with general underdevelopment of speech in orientation in space, which were expressed in the erroneous definition and naming of spatial relationships between objects horizontally (“right - left”) and vertically (“above – below”) axis, the difficulty of understanding and composing constructions with locative meaning.
