The article discusses the problem of updating such an aspect of training a primary education teacher as the development of professional competence in the formation of meta-subject achievements of students. The main ideas of the new university discipline “Methodology for the formation of meta-subject educational results of students in primary school” are considered. The content of the discipline, the features of the organization of theoretical training and practice at school are characterized, individual methodological techniques of the teacher’s work are revealed. The results of approbation of the discipline in the process of implementing educational programs for training a primary education teacher at the university are analyzed, the range of competencies that can be mastered by students in the course of obtaining basic higher education is highlighted.
