The article presents an analysis and the results of generalization of the main theoretical approaches to understanding the mechanisms of formation of an individual's social responsibility. The author examines philosophical, sociological, psychological and pedagogical concepts that reveal various aspects of this phenomenon. The complementarity of scientific schools in explaining the determination, patterns and conditions for the development of social responsibility is shown. The heuristic nature of an integrated approach to the study of the problem at the intersection of sciences is substantiated. The key mechanisms of the formation of social responsibility are highlighted: interiorization of social norms and values, identification with social roles, formation of subjectivity in socially significant activities, development of intrinsic motivation and self-regulation. Prospects for using the results of the analysis in military-pedagogical research and practices of educating future officers are outlined.
