Research Objective. The article analyzes the role of regional security within the overall framework of national security. Amid heightened international tensions and sanction pressures, the necessity for sustainable development of both the nation and its regions, such as the Volga Federal District (VFD), remains crucial. The study emphasizes that the economic well-being of the VFD is critically important for maintaining and strengthening Russia's position on the international stage. Key indicators influencing the region's economic security include GDP per capita, industrial production volumes, employment rates, construction development, and retail trade, along with other socio-economic indicators. Experts highlight that, with its advantageous geographic location and developed infrastructure, the VFD demonstrates high potential in these areas. Conclusions. The article systematizes existing risks such as high unemployment rates, inflation, and uneven socio-economic development. In the context of global economic challenges and specific regional features, like the overpopulation of major cities and the dependency of certain sectors on global market conditions, significant issues remain in coordinating workforce training and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. The conclusion notes that despite these issues, the Volga Federal District demonstrates dynamic growth and significant potential for further strengthening its economic security and its influence on the national economic landscape.
