The decline in the birth rate and the reduction in the number of the working-age population of Russia has a negative impact on the country’s economy. Against the background of rising inflation and falling purchasing power of the population, government measures and programs to support families with children are being updated. The article provides an overview of the results of the Get Experts agency’s labor market research. The dynamics of wages, employment and unemployment according to Rosstat, HeadHunter, “Rabota.ru”, unfavorable regions of Russia are marked. Attention is focused on demographic factors influencing the labor market crisis, and an overview of statistical data is presented. The role of Russians’ perception of marriages and divorces and family values is emphasized. The demographic aging of the country’s population has been noted. The forecasts for the population up to 2100 by World Population Prospects, the United Nations and domestic demographers are presented.
