The purpose of the research is to identify discourses and meanings in the products of songwriting as examples of works of popular culture published during the period of Russia's Special Military Operation in Ukraine, through the analysis of political narratives. Methodologically, the research is based on a combination of interdisciplinary narrative and communicative approaches, within the framework of the latter, research focuses on such areas as symbolic interactionism. The use of discourse analysis contributed to the direct identification of meanings and discourses. The songs, which are elements of the subject component of the study, are typologized based on the criterion of the degree of imagery conveyed through their performance and retransmission of the original meanings. It has been established that due to the media hype surrounding a work of mass culture or its content, the effect of politicization arises even in the case of the initial absence of political narratives, which leads to the resemantization of the central image and storyline. In most cases, the political narratives retransmitted by modern patriotic songs reflect the ideological and political specifics of the era of the Special Military Operation, the analyzed works are characterized by the reactualization and resemiotization of symbols and archetypes. The theoretical significance of the study is to expand scientific understanding of the phenomenon of politicization of mass culture. The practical significance is reduced to the adaptation and application of an algorithm for the applied analysis of works of mass culture from the perspective of identifying political discourses and meanings in them. Conclusions are drawn about the correspondence of the content of the songwriting of the period of the Special Military Operation to the international and socio-political context of the era, which contributes to the process of political socialization and assimilation of Russian traditional spiritual and moral values, including patriotism.
