The paper considers the formation of technical creative thinking of college students at the stage of early specialization, justifies the training of technical specialists in secondary vocational education in accordance with the forecast of socio–economic development of the Russian Federation. The contextual approach is introduced in order to model the subject and social content of professional activity, the concepts of "technical creative thinking" and "constructive and technical activity" are revealed, the main personal and professional qualities of students in the formation of technical creative thinking are described.
