The article examines the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in the HR management system as the most important tool for increasing employee engagement, creating a favorable psychological climate and improving leadership effectiveness. The importance of EI in the context of digitalization, globalization and generational change is emphasized, especially for modern managers working with generation Z. The study includes an analysis of key EI models, such as the ability model, the mixed model and the Bar-On model, and reveals the influence of each EI component (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills) on management practice. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between the level of EI of a manager and a decrease in staff turnover, an increase in job satisfaction and the development of emotional leadership. Also considered are examples of the implementation of programs for the development of emotional intelligence in Russian and foreign companies, including the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and Google Inc. In conclusion, practical recommendations for the development of EI in managers, including trainings, are offered.
