Throughout human history, organizations have undergone numerous stages in their development, driven by both internal factors (from the realization of growth opportunities to the loss of certain development opportunities) and external conditions (from microeconomic competition to macroeconomic changes requiring adaptation). These circumstances have led to the emergence of a scientific field called organizational life cycle research, implemented in the interests of finding ways to more effectively manage organizations. Overcoming the current global economic crisis of the 2020s, which increases the urgency for organizational transformation, makes it relevant to turn to organizational life cycle models created during the recovery from the previous global economic crisis of the 1970s, which was of the same technological nature as the current one. The purpose of this study is to examine the organizational life cycle models developed by B. Livehood and F. Glasl, B. Scott, D. Muller, L. Greiner, R. Ackoff, and F. Emery in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with a view to using their principles to help organizations navigate the current global economic crisis of the 2020s. The novelty of the results lies in identifying factors considered in organizational life cycle models developed before and during the global economic crisis of the 1970s that can be applied to managing organizational life cycles in overcoming the current global economic crisis of the 2020s. The practical significance of the results lies in the possibility of using the historical experience of the evolution of organizational life cycle research models in the construction and development of modern models for managing organizational life cycle stages.
