All subjects of the Russian Federation are searching for new approaches to organizing additional education for children. The article presents the results of a large-scale study to study the opinions of additional education teachers about the developmental and educational opportunities and the role of additional education in the socialization and self-development of children. The results show that activities that are not only pedagogical, but also psychological and pedagogical in nature are of particular importance in organizing work with children in the context of additional education.
