The article talks about the professional self-presentation of a foreign language teacher at a university using the example of social networks. The author reveals the topicality of the chosen topic, reveals the significance of the stated question, linking the educational type of discourse with presentation and Internet discourse in the context of self-presentation activities, defines the multidimensional nature of the goals set and explains the application of updated research methods. Aim. The purpose of the study is to study the self–presentation of foreign language teachers from a professional perspective and taking into account the capabilities of the Worldwide global Network services, namely modern social networks. Research objectives: 1) to define the phenomenon in question; 2) to identify the relationship between professional self-presentation of a linguist teacher and the degree of professional activity of the teacher; 3) to establish the quantitative manifestation of the claimed social networks and provide specific examples of use; 4) to classify teachers of a foreign language depending on the way they strive to broadcast their scientific knowledge to the masses; 5) to develop a typology of professional self-presentation strategies for linguistic teachers. Methodology. The selection of methods and specific research methods for obtaining the necessary information is carried out in accordance with the purpose and objectives of the work. The main diagnostic method of this study is a large-scale questionnaire. For statistical processing and analysis of empirical material, the methods of semantic and pragmatic interpretation, the analytical method, and the method of quantitative analysis are used in the work. Results. The result of the study is the definition of “professional self-presentation” given by the author of the study, the classification of foreign language teachers at the university based on the desire to broadcast their scientific knowledge, as well as the typology of strategies for professional self-presentation of linguistic teachers. Science novelty. The scientific novelty of the proposed research consists in an attempt to consider professional self-presentation within the framework of mastering the academic discipline “Foreign language” at a university and taking into account the use of social networks. Practical significance. The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of applying the results obtained in the development of general and special courses on language theory, theory of speech influence, pragmatics of speech communication, methods of teaching foreign languages, psychology, and related humanities.
